As the film begins, we see “Liv” exploring an abandoned building, finding items abruptly left behind by its occupants. The challenge here was to find a delicate balance between eerie and tender, to capture the frailty of human lives in the presence of such destructive natural forces.
It is also setting the scene for what is to come – the energy and revival of a new city, albeit with an uncertain future. Beginning with the overview theme, the music then lifts, as if almost hopeful, yet isn’t ever quite sure.
