The images we see in this sequence are profound. There is a poignant stillness amidst the most graphic destruction, and an overwhelming sense of loss. This simple folk-like tune (overview theme) has a subtle lilting bass line, which along with low solo viola, offers strength. An observant sounding piano plays throughout, supported by a dulcimer and mandolin, and then a frail solo violin, as the city counts the cost.
